À propos du poste
We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for accomplished mathematics researchers experienced in research-level problem authoring, proof construction, proof verification, formalization, conjecture exploration, and advanced mathematical reasoning evaluation.
This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on advanced mathematical reasoning, research-grade problem design, proof review, model output evaluation, formalization tasks, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply frontier-level mathematical judgment to author and review challenging problems, evaluate complex reasoning, and identify subtle mathematical errors that require working researcher-level expertise.
Key ResponsibilitiesProfessionals in this role may contribute to:Research-Level Mathematics Problem Authoring- Author challenging mathematics problems across pure mathematics, applied mathematics, theoretical computer science, statistics, or adjacent research areas- Develop tasks involving proof construction, proof verification, problem-solving, formalization, and conjecture exploration- Create materials that require research-level mathematical reasoning rather than textbook-level pattern recognition- Design problems with clear expected reasoning paths, rigorous standards, and high technical depthProof Review & Mathematical Output Evaluation- Evaluate mathematical outputs for correctness, rigor, clarity, and completeness- Identify subtle errors such as unjustified steps, misapplied hypotheses, hand-waved lemmas, invalid reductions, or plausible but incorrect proofs- Assess whether proposed arguments meet the standards of working research mathematics- Provide structured feedback explaining mathematical strengths, weaknesses, and required correctionsResearch Calibration & Quality Review- Collaborate with a small program team and other senior contributors on task quality and difficulty calibration- Review evaluation materials for consistency, rigor, and research relevance- Help surface areas where current mathematical reasoning systems fail- Maintain high standards of accuracy, precision, and intellectual integrity across submitted workIdeal ProfileStrong candidates may have:- Active or recent research role as a PhD candidate, postdoc, instructor, faculty member, principal researcher, industry research mathematician, or comparable contributor- Deep research expertise in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematical physics, theoretical computer science, statistics, or a related field- Strong publication record, especially in leading mathematics journals, top specialty journals, or top-tier adjacent venues- Doctoral or postdoctoral training at a highly regarded mathematics, STEM, or theoretical research institution- Research honors, fellowships, grants, competition distinctions, or comparable signals of exceptional mathematical depth- Ability to evaluate complex proofs and identify subtle mathematical issues quickly- Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detailEducational Background- PhD, advanced doctoral training, postdoctoral experience, or equivalent research output in mathematics or a closely related field is strongly preferred- Outstanding senior PhD students and recent graduates with strong publication records may also be a strong fit- Research backgrounds in number theory, algebra, algebraic geometry, topology, analysis, PDEs, probability, combinatorics, dynamical systems, logic, representation theory, mathematical physics, theoretical computer science, or statistics are highly relevantNice to Have- First-author, sole-author, or otherwise substantial research publications in highly selective mathematics or adjacent research venues- Competitive fellowships, research awards, named grants, olympiad-level distinctions, Putnam-level distinctions, or comparable research signals- Experience reviewing proofs, supervising research, designing advanced mathematical problems, or evaluating formal reasoning- Familiarity with proof formalization, mathematical logic, proof assistants, or structured mathematical verification workflows- Availability for approximately 8–20 hours per week depending on project scopeWhy This Opportunity- Apply research-level mathematical expertise to structured remote consulting work- Contribute to high-quality mathematical reasoning evaluation, proof review, and problem authoring- Work on flexible assignments aligned with your research area and mathematical depth- Use your ability to identify subtle reasoning flaws that only an experienced mathematician would catch- Remote structure with competitive hourly compensationContract Details- Independent contractor role- Fully remote with flexible scheduling- Eligible professionals should be based in the United States depending on project needs- Expected commitment of approximately 8–20 hours per week depending on project availability- Ongoing project structure with continuation depending on program needs and expertise alignment- Competitive rates between $100–$160 per hour depending on research seniority, credentials, and project scope- Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise- Projects may be extended, shortened, or adjusted depending on scope and performance- Work will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institutionAbout the PlatformThis opportunity is available through 24-MAG LLC. We connect experienced professionals with remote consulting opportunities across technical, evaluation, and project-based workstreams.
