Where to find remote junior developer jobs

Remote junior developer hiring has tightened since 2022. The companies still hiring fully remote at junior levels are a smaller subset of the broader remote-friendly market, but they exist. ## Where they hire Remote-mature scale-ups with formal mentorship programs. Open source-adjacent companies (developer tools, infra, platforms). Some startups under 50 engineers. ## Skills that matter Demonstrable async communication. Public portfolio with at least three substantial deployed projects. Written work (blog posts, technical READMEs, accepted PRs). ## Path Many engineers who eventually work remotely at junior level get there via a six to twelve month stint at a local company, then transition. The talent friction at fully remote junior is high enough that going hybrid first is often faster.
