Lisbon has cemented its position as the dominant remote tech hub in Western Europe. The D8 digital nomad visa, low cost of living relative to other capital cities, mild climate and strong fiber infrastructure make it the preferred base for remote engineers relocating from higher-cost markets. The startup ecosystem around the Beato Innovation District and Cais do SodrƩ has matured into a stable network of co-working spaces and meetups in 2026. Rents have risen sharply since 2022 but remain below Paris, Amsterdam or Dublin equivalents.
